ARTE GAMES

10 Boulevard des Frères Voisin, Issy-les-Moulineaux, 92130, France

ARTE co-produces and publishes independent video games with a strong artistic, narrative, and cultural identity, in France and internationally.

Description

ARTE is a European public cultural channel that places creation, innovation and the exploration of new narrative forms at the heart of its identity. Since 2013, we have also been investing in the video game sector with the ambition of supporting original interactive experiences capable of bringing together storytelling, art direction, music, culture and new technologies. After our first co-productions, we strengthened our commitment by becoming a video game publisher in 2017.

Our editorial line mainly favors independent productions offering a strong identity and a genuine authorial vision. We collaborate with studios and creators in France, Europe and internationally in order to support projects that explore the potential of the medium beyond traditional formats. This approach allows us to take part in every stage of ambitious projects, from their development through to their release to the public.

Our catalogue now brings together many experiences with very different worlds. Type explores the history of typography through an adventure and puzzle game, while Californium pays tribute to the world of Philip K. Dick. Homo Machina transforms the human body into an immense factory inspired by Fritz Kahn's illustrations, and The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature offers a sensitive reinterpretation of Mary Shelley's classic. Other titles such as Alt-Frequencies, Vectronom, Inua: A Story in Ice and Time, How to Say Goodbye, 30 Birds and Gloomy Eyes reflect the diversity of experiences we want to support.

Video games are part of a broader digital strategy that also encompasses virtual and augmented reality, interactive installations, animation and various forms of creation designed for new uses. In this way, we seek to build bridges between the cultural industries and to bring new forms of writing to the fore.

Through our co-production and publishing activities, we champion a vision of video games as a cultural creative space in their own right. Our goal is to support works that are accessible to the general public while giving independent studios the opportunity to experiment, to develop singular universes and to offer players memorable experiences.
