Description

The Professional Bachelor's degree "Video Game Professions: Level Designer and Game Designer" at IUT de Bobigny, affiliated with Sorbonne Paris Nord University, trains specialists in video game design, from gameplay to the creation and tuning of game levels. This one-year program, accessible after a Bac+2, combines theoretical and practical teachings delivered by academics and industry professionals.

Program Objectives

This degree aims to develop a strong video game culture and the ability to reflect on new content, platforms, and gameplay challenges. Students acquire skills in game design, level design, 2D/3D graphics, programming for prototyping, project management, and the socio-economics of the industry. They are also trained to analyze game principles and adapt gameplay to different audiences, game types, and platforms.

Curriculum and Teachings

General knowledge of video games: history, culture, and critical analysis.

Advanced game and level design techniques: gameplay conception, level creation, prototyping.

2D and 3D graphics: mastery of specialized software for visual creation.

Programming for prototyping: basics of programming applied to video games.

Project management: methodologies, teamwork, professional communication.

Students undertake supervised group projects, fostering initiative, autonomy, and responsibility. A mandatory internship of at least 14 weeks, conducted between April and October, provides concrete professional immersion.
