Since 1974, ETPA (Technical School of Photography and Audiovisual) has been a benchmark in training talents for video games and visual arts in France. An immersive and structured training
The game design program at ETPA spans three years, with a curriculum structured around three pillars: conception, graphics, and programming. From the first year, students dive into the world of video games by working on character creation, settings, and immersive environments. The program includes courses in game design, 2D and 3D graphics, programming, drawing, and visual culture, all taught by active professionals.
In the second year, the focus shifts to mastering 3D game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine, as well as producing prototypes for PC and mobile platforms. Students deepen their skills in artistic direction, 3D animation, level design, and narratology, while participating in workshops and conferences with industry experts.
The third year is dedicated to the development of a complete video game under real production conditions. Students work in teams on projects that will be presented to a panel of professionals during a major event: the Grand Prix Game Design. This final project validates their technical, creative, and organizational skills while providing them with exposure to potential employers.
Enhanced professional integration
ETPA supports its students through its network of partners, facilitating internships and job placements. Its graduates secure various roles such as game designer, level designer, or 3D artist, both in France and internationally.
