4 Rue Du Bignon, Rennes, 35000, France

Since 2011, Activdesign has been offering remote or in-person training programs in Video Games: Game Design, Game Art, Sound Design, Narrative Design, and Game Testing.

Description

Since 2011, Activdesign has been training learners both in-person in Rennes and remotely across the entire country. Since 2018, dedicated video game courses have been offered to prepare students for creative and technical careers: Game Design, Game Art, Sound Design, Narrative Design, and Testing. Our programs last between 3 and 5 years after high school to prepare for professionalization.

The pedagogy implemented by Activdesign places a strong emphasis on projects, whether individual, in pairs, or in studio mode as large-scale collaborative projects. Based on a training plan and an established schedule, students are encouraged early on to learn through real-world projects that may involve varying levels of constraints, helping to guide their work and learning. Learning thus happens on the job, in work-like conditions, to develop the adaptability required for creative and technological careers. This approach combines some instructor-led courses but is primarily based on active and innovative teaching methods that take the learner's needs as the foundation of the learning process.

Questions and Answers

Sound Designer

Game Tester (specialization)

Students in these programs can work together to design several video games during their training.

Are these programs recognized?

Yes, Activdesign awards an official Bac +3 diploma.

What are the admission requirements?

Fill out our online application form available on our website. There are few prerequisites for the first year. If you wish to enter the 2nd or 3rd year, you will need to submit work samples to demonstrate your skills.

Is the training the same for in-person and distance learning?

Yes, the curriculum remains the same. For distance learning, you can study at your own pace with teachers available from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. In-person students benefit from more intensive support and easier group work. You'll also enjoy the local video game ecosystem, as the school is often invited to events, and students can participate as well. However, you can also engage in similar activities in your own region.

Can't decide between two programs?

There are many bridges between the different programs because you will learn to use game engines, draw and animate assets, write scripts, program, and create soundscapes. However, the intensity of each skill will vary depending on the program. This makes switching programs easier, even from one year to the next.

Are internships mandatory?

They are not mandatory but are highly recommended. We will assist you in finding internships. In the first year, it can be challenging to secure an internship, but it becomes easier in the second year.
