Unexpected, an independent video game development studio based in Montpellier, founded in November 2015 by Adrien "ZeratoR" Nougaret.
Our adventure began with a bold bet: creating video games with an entirely junior team. Since then, a dozen passionate individuals have collaborated to design innovative worlds, aimed at offering players, whether novices or experienced, exploration, discovery, and enjoyment experiences.
We take pride in prioritizing originality, both graphically and gameplay-wise, in our creations. Within four years, we have developed and launched three games that reflect our commitment to quality and innovation:
looK INside: An immersive narrative game that invites players to reconstruct a family tree by exploring slices of life from a French family. Available on Steam, it has been warmly received by the community for its emotional depth and polished aesthetics.
As Far As The Eye: This turn-based management and survival game challenges players to guide a nomadic tribe to the center of the world, called the Eye. With its roguelike mechanics and distinctive artistic direction, it offers a rich and replayable gaming experience.
dWARf: A dynamic multiplayer game where dwarves engage in intense battles. Although the servers were shut down in April 2019, dWARf remains a significant milestone in our journey, showcasing our ability to create engaging multiplayer experiences.
We also developed Kallax, a chaotic cooperative game where players must assemble furniture as a team, testing their coordination and communication.
Beyond our own projects, we offer a range of services to support other studios and creators in their artistic and technical endeavors. Our expertise includes concept art creation, 3D modeling, user interface design, narrative writing, and game design. We specialize in strategy games, puzzle games, and narrative games, and we leverage our expertise to turn your ideas into memorable gaming experiences.
