Founded in 2017 and based in Angoulême, Hibernian Workshop is an independent French studio driven by a shared passion for video games, pixel art, and gameplay-focused experiences. Our story began two years earlier, when Louis Denizet and Alexandre Magnat met on a French development forum. One was working on a game prototype, the other was honing his pixel art skills: from this complementarity was born a collaboration that would become, after a successful crowdfunding campaign, Hibernian Workshop.
Our first project, Dark Devotion, laid the foundations of our identity. Released in 2019, this demanding action game plunges players into the heart of a mysterious and oppressive temple, in an adventure blending exploration, combat, progression, and environmental storytelling. Initially conceived as a passion project, the game gradually grew in scope and marked a decisive first step in the studio's development.
We continued our adventure with Astral Ascent, a 2D roguelite platformer that deepened our approach to dynamic gameplay and pixel art. Through four heroes with distinct styles, players explore an astral prison guarded by the twelve Zodiacs and build their strategies thanks to numerous spells and customization options. Developed over four years and released in 2023, Astral Ascent allowed us to grow our team, our community, and our ambitions, while further asserting our creative identity.
Today, we are taking a new step with Fallen Fates, our most ambitious project to date. This top-down action-RPG takes us into a vast pixel art fantasy world, where dynamic combat, exploration, and characters take center stage. The project builds on our expertise while allowing us to explore new ideas and push the limits of our previous productions.
Hibernian Workshop remains above all a team of passionate developers and artists, several of whom built their expertise as self-taught creators. The support of our community has accompanied our evolution since our beginnings and remains essential to our journey. Through each game, our goal remains the same: to offer powerful experiences, driven by refined mechanics, memorable worlds, and carefully crafted pixel art.
