Bureau 81 is an independent video game development studio founded in 2023, driven by values of honesty, loyalty, and sharing. Our mission is to push the boundaries of gaming by creating unique and innovative experiences that challenge established conventions.
Our first title, "The Operator," fully embodies this philosophy. This immersive narrative game puts players in the shoes of a new operator within the Federal Department of Intelligence (FDI). Your role is to assist our field agents by using cutting-edge software to analyze evidence, solve puzzles, and uncover the truth behind mysterious crimes. Each case immerses you in a story full of twists and turns, where your observational skills and analytical mind will be your greatest assets.
Inspired by works such as "X-Files" and "Her Story," "The Operator" offers a unique perspective on investigative work, focusing on analysis and deduction rather than field action. This approach has been praised by critics and players alike, with the game receiving highly positive reviews since its release on July 22, 2024. It was also nominated in three categories at the 2025 Pégases Awards: Best Independent Game, Best Debut Game, and Best Narrative. We also won a Pégase for Best Narrative at the 2025 Pégases Awards.
